Role Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Laundry Assistant to join our care home team. You’ll play a vital role in keeping residents’ clothing and linens clean, well-maintained, and returned promptly, supporting comfort, hygiene, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash, dry, and iron residents’ clothing and bedding following care home procedures
- Ensure all clothing is clearly labelled before laundering
- Handle soiled linen safely and follow infection control procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry room
- Monitor linen quality and report shortages or equipment issues
- Use detergents and chemicals safely in line with COSHH regulations
- Keep accurate records of laundry items sent for external cleaning
- Maintain confidentiality and respect residents’ privacy at all times
Requirements:
- Experience in laundry services, housekeeping, or healthcare/hospitality settings preferred
- Knowledge of laundry equipment and cleaning techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of hygiene
- Good communication skills and respectful attitude towards residents and colleagues
