About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Carer to provide high-quality, person-centred care within our retirement community. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of residents throughout the night. You will support residents with care needs, maintain a safe environment, and respond calmly and effectively to any emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Care and Wellbeing Support
- Deliver person-centred care in line with individual care plans
- Assist with personal care, mobility, meals, hydration, medication, and continence care
- Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all daily activities
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance wellbeing
- Support hospital discharge and home-from-hospital care
- Communicate sensitively with families and representatives when required
Household and Community Support
- Assist with housekeeping tasks such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning
- Support residents with appointments, prescriptions, and daily errands
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation of communal areas
Safety and Security
- Carry out regular security checks and monitor CCTV
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including fire and alarm activations, in line with company policies
- Support colleagues during emergencies, working independently when required
- Conduct pool safety checks and complete maintenance logs where applicable (training provided)
- Maintain awareness of fire safety procedures and act decisively in emergencies
Teamwork and Communication
- Work closely with other Carers, the Registered Care Manager, and Resource Planner
- Provide front-of-house support, including reception cover and managing calls when needed
- Maintain accurate records and handovers to ensure continuity of care
- Complete daily reports and documentation in line with GDPR and company policies

- Promote and protect residents’ dignity, privacy, and rights
- Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies
- Attend all mandatory training and engage in continuous professional development
- Uphold company values and professional behaviours at all times
About You
Skills and Experience
- Qualified to QCF Level 2 or willing to work towards this qualification
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Confident using mobile devices and care management apps
- Able to accurately complete electronic care records and medication logs
- Good knowledge of the local area
- High standards of personal presentation and hygiene
- Strong understanding of professional boundaries
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection
- Excellent time management skills with flexibility to meet changing needs
- A positive role model with a commitment to high-quality care and teamwork
