Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £12,733 per year (£23,875 FTE)
Contract: Part-time, Permanent

About Birmingham Hospice

At Birmingham Hospice, we make every moment matter for people living with life-limiting conditions and for those who care for them. We are now seeking a compassionate and reliable Housekeeping Assistant to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.


Working Hours

  • Wednesday & Thursday: 1:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Weekend shifts (alternating weeks):
    • Week 1: Saturday & Sunday, 8:00am – 1:00pm
    • Week 2: Saturday & Sunday, 1:00pm – 6:00pm

Weekend availability is essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospice
  • Support infection prevention and control procedures
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients and visitors
  • Work closely with the Facilities and Housekeeping teams
  • Complete cleaning schedules and maintain accurate records
  • Follow health & safety procedures, including COSHH and manual handling
  • Provide cover for colleagues when required

About You

  • A good standard of education
  • Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work every weekend
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
