The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to support the Distribution Centre (DC) Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-performing warehouse operation. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for coordinating daily warehouse activities, ensuring health and safety compliance, meeting operational targets, and delivering excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will lead by example, effectively manage warehouse teams, and ensure all receiving, storage, and dispatch operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, assign, and review the work of warehouse operatives across receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch
- Ensure daily and weekly productivity targets are met or exceeded
- Work closely with the Transport Manager and DC Manager to ensure accurate and timely order dispatch
- Plan work schedules, resolve operational issues, and submit progress and performance reports
- Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and company operating procedures
- Train team members in job duties, safety practices, and company policies
- Support people management processes including recruitment, performance management, and terminations
- Carry out hands-on warehouse duties when required, including:
- Coordinating material flow in and out of the facility
- Unloading containers and maintaining accurate documentation
- Completing paperwork efficiently and accurately
- Participating in stock takes
- Conducting daily equipment inspections
- Maintaining cleanliness of the warehouse and yard
- Undertake any additional duties required to support operations
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment (stone or similar industry experience desirable)
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Strong operational and process-driven mindset
- Valid forklift licence (essential)
- Good understanding of personnel policies, procedures, and operational practices
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- High levels of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Physically able to work with large and heavy products
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to assist with ad-hoc deliveries
