Role Purpose
The Laundry Assistant supports daily laundry operations, ensuring all linens, towels, uniforms, and other textiles are cleaned, finished, and handled to five-star standards. This is a practical, hands-on role essential to maintaining smooth service across Housekeeping, Spa, Food & Beverage, and Estate departments.
Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Sort, wash, dry, press, fold, and finish all laundry items according to procedures
- Handle fabrics appropriately based on material, colour, and department requirements
- Distribute clean linen and uniforms to relevant departments in a timely manner
- Identify and report damaged or stained items to supervisors
- Ensure proper labelling, storage, and organisation of all laundry items
Quality Standards
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Follow all five-star SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Assist with quality checks and inspections when required
Health & Safety
- Operate laundry machinery safely following training
- Follow COSHH guidelines for chemicals and detergents
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment
- Comply with all health, safety, fire, and manual handling procedures
Teamwork & Support
- Work closely with the Laundry Supervisor and team to meet daily demands
- Support busy periods, events, weddings, and peak occupancy times
- Assist with guest laundry and delicate items when trained
- Adapt to changing operational priorities as needed
General Duties
- Follow all hotel policies and procedures
- Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and conduct
- Carry out additional reasonable tasks as requested by management
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in laundry or a similar role (required)
- Good level of English (required)
- Right to work in the United Kingdom (required)
- Ability to work in a physically active, fast-paced environment
