Pay: £7.50 – £12.21 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend or extra shifts)
Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Café Assistant to support our barista and front-of-house team in the day-to-day running of the café. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering excellent customer service.
You will play a key part in ensuring smooth service, particularly during busy periods, while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly and professional customer service
- Take customer orders and process payments using an EPOS system
- Support the barista with basic drink preparation when required
- Prepare and heat pre-made sandwiches to order
- Assemble simple food items such as toasties, sandwiches, and desserts
- Ensure food presentation, portioning, and labelling meet standards
- Serve food and drinks to customers
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation across all work areas
- Complete daily cleaning tasks (front and back of house)
- Carry out food safety checks, including temperature logs
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, and FIFO stock rotation
- Report any maintenance issues or food safety concerns promptly
- Support the team with prep, cleaning, and restocking during quieter times
Marketing, Team & Brand Expectations
- Occasionally wear a GoPro (or similar) during shifts for behind-the-scenes content
- Be comfortable appearing in marketing material
- Maintain professionalism while being recorded
- Represent the brand positively at all times
- Be punctual, dependable, and a strong team player
Requirements
- Positive, friendly, and customer-focused attitude
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organisation
- Willingness to learn café systems and food preparation
- Previous café or serving experience preferred (minimum 1 year)
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete food safety training if required
- Agreement to company filming/content policy
- Availability for occasional weekend shifts
Working Hours
- Monday & Friday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
- Additional weekday or weekend hours may be available to cover staff absences
