About the Role
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a proactive and motivated Retail Catering Assistant to join its catering team.
The role involves providing high-quality food and beverage services to patients, visitors and hospital staff while maintaining excellent customer service, food safety and hygiene standards.
The main base will be St Peter’s Hospital, with a requirement to work at Ashford Hospital and other Trust locations when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve freshly prepared food and beverages to patients, visitors and staff.
- Prepare hot and cold speciality drinks and refreshments.
- Replenish food and retail displays throughout the day.
- Maintain clean, tidy and well-presented catering areas.
- Clean, maintain and safely store crockery and cutlery.
- Operate dishwashers and other catering equipment safely.
- Monitor food and equipment temperatures according to Trust procedures.
- Check use-by dates and maintain correct stock rotation.
- Follow HACCP, food hygiene and food safety procedures.
- Complete required food safety and temperature records.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and uniform standards.
- Carry out cleaning duties according to schedules and COSHH requirements.
- Report equipment faults, breakdowns and maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow health and safety procedures and local safe systems of work.
- Support infection prevention and hand hygiene requirements.
- Provide friendly and professional communication to patients, visitors and colleagues.
