The role
Join the Amazon team at our Welwyn Garden City delivery station, the last stop before orders reach customers. It’s a fast-paced, active job: trucks arrive full of orders, and you’ll help prepare them for drivers to collect.
What you’ll do
- Receive truck deliveries of customer packages
- Use scanners and handheld devices to sort, scan and prepare orders into delivery bags and vans
- Load conveyor belts, then move and stage deliveries for drivers
- Build, wrap, sort and transport pallets and packages
Hours and shifts
- Shifts: early morning, day, evening or night
- Weekly hours: full-time (40), reduced-time (30 to 39), part-time (20 to 29) or flex-time (0 to 19)
- Delivery stations run fixed schedules, so you’ll know your routine. Hours, shifts and breaks may change to meet demand, and patterns can vary between peak and non-peak periods. Any changes follow statutory requirements.
What you’ll need
- Be 18 or older
- Understand and follow instructions in English
- Be able to lift up to 23kg, up to 38kg using the Tilt-Push-Slide technique, and up to 120kg with a sack truck
- Be comfortable standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending and reaching during shifts
- Be happy using carts, dollies and hand trucks, following prompts on screens, and using stairs where needed
- Be happy handling the full range of Amazon products, including alcohol, pork, beef and other animal products
Working conditions
- Safety: protective gear is provided, and teams share safety tips daily. You’ll work around moving equipment such as rolling cages and mobile carts.
- Temperature: most areas stay between 15°C and 32°C, but it can be hotter or below freezing on extreme days.
- Noise: it can get noisy, and hearing protection is available.
- Dress code: relaxed and comfortable, with closed-toe shoes. All necessary PPE is provided.
