Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Café Assistant to support our barista and front-of-house team in day-to-day café operations. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, assisting during busy service periods, and managing the food preparation area efficiently.
A key part of the role involves preparing and heating pre-made sandwiches to order, ensuring fast service and high-quality presentation. You will also help maintain cleanliness, assist with stock management, and support the team in keeping the café organised and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly and professional customer service
- Take customer orders and handle cash/card payments using the EPOS system
- Support the barista with basic drink preparation when needed
- Prepare and heat pre-made sandwiches and simple food items
- Assemble items such as toasties, desserts, and light meals
- Ensure food is presented well and labelled correctly
- Serve food and drinks to customers
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all work areas
- Complete daily cleaning tasks (front and back of house)
- Follow food safety procedures, including temperature checks
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, and restocking (FIFO method)
- Report any issues related to equipment, safety, or food quality
- Support general café duties during quieter periods
Marketing & Team Expectations
- Be comfortable being recorded for behind-the-scenes content (e.g., wearing a GoPro)
- Maintain professionalism while representing the brand
- Be punctual, reliable, and a strong team player
Requirements
- Positive, friendly, and customer-focused attitude
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organisation
- Willingness to learn café systems and food preparation
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete food safety training if required
- Agreement to the company’s filming/content policy
- Availability for occasional weekend shifts
Working Hours
- Monday & Friday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Additional weekday or weekend shifts may be available to cover staff leave
